Coaxing Color: A Natural Dye Series - Part I

This is the first of three classes in a Natural Dye Series: Coaxing Color from the Earth's Blanket.  In this first class we will begin the fascinating and ever expanding exploration of natural dyes.  We will introduce mordanting, preparing dye baths and create 4 - 6 dye vats using both native and non-native plants growing in the local landscape. We will also experiment with at least one mushroom dye.  This will be a hands on class with some lifting involved.  Each student will dye one silk scarf and create a sample card to take home as reference.

You may take this class as a part of the series or independently.

Please come prepared to enjoy a day outside. Bring lunch, water and anything you need to be comfortable.
